Every person engaged or intending to engage in any calling, business, occupation or profession or maintaining an office(s) within the town limits of Gilbert is required to pay a business license tax and obtain a business license. NEW BUSINESS LICENSE

RENEW BUSINESS LICENSE

The Local Business License Renewal Center is for the renewal of an existing business license. Renewal is currently available for the 2025-2026 license year. To renew a business license for the 2024-2025 license year, contact us. To apply for a new business license, review and follow the steps of the business license application process.                            The Town of Gilbert uses the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) to classify businesses based on the type of work being performed. Calculation of the business license tax is based on the rate class for the NAICS code and gross revenue of the business. To determine the NAICS code for a specific type of business use the NAICS search or contact us.                                                                                                      Business license renewals for the 2025-2026 license year must be submitted and paid by 4/30/2025. Mobile Vending License

Mobile Vendor is defined as a person, corporation or business entity, its employees and agents who peddle, vend and sell food products, drinks excluding any alcohol, and other merchandise from a mobile unit.  No counterfeit items may be offered for sale.  No materials shall be displayed, offered, shown or sold that pertain to alcohol, drugs, fireworks, sex, tobacco and tobacco products as well as vapor products.  These temporary mobile units must be either self-contained enclosed units, units pulled behind a vehicle or a tent.  If required these units must be licensed by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.

Application Checklist: The applicant must provide the following in order to receive a Mobile Vending Business License/Permit: 

  • SCDHEC or SCDA Permit for any food vendor 

  • Federal and South Carolina Tax Identification numbers 

  • Certificate of proof of insurance 

  • Property owner permission letter/agreement 

  • Completed Town of Gilbert Mobile Vendor Business License/Permit Application
